The actress, whose full title is Melanie Thandiwe Newton, mentioned her title was misspelled within the credit to her first movie in 1991, Flirting, which co-starred Nicole Kidman and Noah Taylor.

Thandiwe means “beloved” in Shona, a language of Zimbabwe, the place her mom is from.

Because of this, Thandie Newton grew to become the widely-used spelling of her title and has caught with the actress for 3 many years.
