Two people are said to have died on Monday in Nnevi, Anambra, during sit-at-home protest ordered at home by outlawed Biafras.
Three buses were also burned in the area.
“They were chanting and shouting: ‘today is Sit-at-home. Anything sighted, even if it’s a fly must be destroyed.”
Around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Izuchukwu Park, shots were fired.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes when we came out to see the two lifeless bodies of young men. However, no one has been able to explain who is responsible.”
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations officer Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident.
He said police officers were stationed there.
He said, “I can confirm that there was an accident at the Nnewi roundabout, there are currently police officers there, but the details are still being elaborated. Any additional information will be communicated. “
Meanwhile, there was total compliance to the order to sit-at-home in Nnewi and Onitsha, most areas of the state like banks, shops and markets were under lock.
