Taliban negotiating team leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, co-founded the Taliban movement in the early 1990s with Mullah Omar, a cleric, amid the chaos and corruption of the civil war that broke out after the Soviet withdrawal.
America’s defeat is a “big lesson for other invaders and for our future generations,” the Taliban said on Tuesday, hours after the last foreign troops left Afghanistan.
“This is also a lesson for the world,” said spokesman Zabihula Mujahid from the tarmac at Kabul airport.
The Taliban’s chief spokesman also congratulated Afghanistan on their victory on Tuesday, hours after the last US troops left the country after 20 years of military intervention.
“Congratulations to Afghanistan… this victory belongs to all of us,” said Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid from the tarmac at Kabul airport.
“We want to have good relations with the United States and the world. We welcome diplomatic relations with everyone,” he added.
