The first son of the slain former traditional ruler of Mkpunando in Anambra East LGA, Prince Chinedu Edozieuno, has dismissed speculations in some areas linking his father’s murder to indigenous Biafrans and the Eastern Security Network.
In a statement on Sunday, the late king’s son insisted his father had no problems with any secessionist groups.
He said, “Some people have tried to link my father’s death to IPOB. This is false and cheap propaganda.
“My father’s death cannot be far from the autonomous community issue because influential people from Aguleri wanted the town to remain one. My father’s death is a strong hatchet man’s job by some highly placed people.”
However, he claims he was being monitored by his father’s killers and seeks protection from the Presidency and the Police Inspector General.
The prince said he had received threats from unidentified people since helping police find his father’s killers.
Igwe Alex Edoziuno is said to have been killed by gunmen on 10 September 2021, a controversial situation, as his death was thought to be politically motivated.
The statement said: “I call on the Presidency, the Inspector-General of Police and security agencies to come to my aid so that those who killed my father will not kill me. I believe those who killed my father are not far from my kinsmen.”
